Formed by a group of executives of the Canada Steamship Company, Canadian National & Canadian Pacific companies decided it would be a good idea to form a club for executives within the liner industry.
The club was formed in 1952/53 with the first Chairman being Mr. Reg Cassam of Canada Steamship Company. Early lunches were held at The Three Nuns & The Angel, both public houses in Aldgate, East London. As the club’s membership grew we moved to The Abercorn Rooms in Liverpool Street. Since those early days, the club has continued to flourish, taking on a larger mandate for the freight industry when forwarders were invited to join the membership.
From the Abercorn Rooms the club moved to Barrington House (1980/1996), The Cockney (1997/1999), The Honorary Artillery Company (2000/2003) and The Brewery (2003/2005) before settling into our current venue, The New Connaught Rooms, in July 2005.
The LFC is growing into a well known vehicle for members of the shipping and freight industry to network within a pleasant social atmosphere. Choosing to stay focused on the good of the industry and its membership, the LFC offers a forum for its members to share the wisdom of hundreds of years collectively in the freight industry.
